COMBINED COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION-2011
SUBJECTS FOR WRITTEN EXAMINATION (900 MARKS)
  1. The Examination will include the following subjects and each subject will carry the marks shown against it and there will be six papers (04 compulsory and 02 optional) each of 150 marks and of 03 hours duration.
  2. A candidate shall answer the papers in English unless otherwise directed except the paper of Islamiat which may be answered either in Urdu or English.
  3. The minimum standard of compulsory subjects will be that of a Bachelor’s degree of a recognized University in Pakistan.
    WRITTEN TEST
  4. COMPULSORY SUBJECTS (600 MARKS)
    1. English General and Essay 150 Marks
    2. Urdu General and Essay 150 Marks
    3. Current Affairs and Pakistan Affairs 150 Marks
    4. Islamiat 150 Marks
    5. *Pakistan Studies (For Non-Muslims) * NOTE: There will be no separate paper of Pakistan Studies for Non-Muslims. The Marks obtained by them in the paper “Current Affairs & Pakistan Affairs” (Part-B) will be treated as double for them in lieu of Pakistan Studies.
  5. A candidate who does not appear in any compulsory paper will not be allowed to appear in the remaining papers of the Examination.
    OPTIONAL SUBJECTS (300 MARKS)
  6. The minimum standard of optional subjects will be that of Bachelor’s Degree of a recognized University in Pakistan.

  8. The candidates must select two optional subjects from the above list carrying a total of 300 marks only with the condition that not more than one subject shall be taken from each Group.
  9. The Commission with prior approval of the competent authority may fix qualifying marks in any or all of the subjects of the Examination but a candidate who fails to secure in Written Examination at least 33% marks in any subject, 40% marks in the Aggregate and 50% marks in the Viva Voce Test out of total of 300 marks will be considered to have failed and will not be eligible for appointment.
  10. Candidates qualifying the Written Examination will be called for Viva Voce Test.
  11. From the marks assigned to candidates in each subject, such deductions will be made as the Commission may consider necessary in order to ensure that no credit is allowed for merely superficial knowledge. Candidates who obtain less than 33% marks in any of the subjects will not be given credit in that subject.
  12. If any candidate’s handwriting is not easily legible, deduction will be made on this account from the total marks otherwise accruing to him/her. In case of illegible handwriting “Zero Mark” will be awarded on this account. Marks will be deducted for irrelevance.
  13. Credit will be given for orderly, effective and exact expression with due economy of words in all
    subjects of Examination. The number of Questions required in the Compulsory as well as Optional
    subjects to be attempted will only be marked consecutively and the last over-attempted question(s) or
    Part(s) will not be taken into account.
  14. If any candidate writes his/her Roll No. (Except in the space provided for this purpose on the cover of the Answer Book) or writes his/her name or makes any distinguishing mark at any place in his/her Answer Book and/or Additional Answer Books he/she shall be awarded Zero Mark in that paper, besides any other punishment which the Commission may decide to award.
  15. Candidates must use blue or black ink only in their Answer Books otherwise “Zero Mark” shall be awarded.
  16. Eligibility of the candidates in terms of Recruitment Rules and the advertised conditions shall be determined after the conduct of Written Examination. On detailed scrutiny of the applications if they are found ineligible, their candidature will be cancelled irrespective of the fact whether they have appeared in the Examination /Test or even qualified therein. On rejection of applicants’ candidature on the basis of their ineligibility, the applicants would be informed by the Commission defining the reasons of their ineligibility. The rejected candidates on submission of their representation shall be heard by the Commission’s Committee. The candidates should, therefore, make sure before appearing in the Examination/Test, that they are eligible in all respects for the post, they have applied for.
  17. To avoid frustration, the candidates are advised in their own interest to make sure before appearing at the Examination that they fulfill all the requirements of the Rules, relating to the Examination.
  18. A candidate must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the discharge of his/her duties who (after such medical Examination as Government or the Appointing Authority, as the case may be, may prescribe) is found not to satisfy these requirements will not be appointed.
  19. In order to prevent disappointment, candidates are advised to have themselves examined by a Government Medical Officer of the standing of Civil Surgeon before applying for admission to the Examination.
  20. VIVA VOCE (300 MARKS)
  21. Each candidate who qualifies the Written Examination will be interviewed by a Board who will have before them a record of his/her career, both academic and extramural. He/she will be asked questions on matters of general interests. The object of the interview is to assess his/her suitability for the services for which he/she is entered and in framing their assessment the Board will attach particular importance to the moral and ethical qualities of the candidate, his/her intelligence and alertness of mind, his/her vigour and strength of character and his/her potential qualities of leadership. The Board will take into consideration his/her extra-curricular activities such as sports, debates, hobbies, etc, and their effect on his/her physique and character, in assessing his/her merit.
  22. All candidates are expected to have basic knowledge regarding Islam and Pakistan.
  23. This issues with the approval of the Competent Authority.
